Position: Advanced/Senior Practitioner

Job Responsibilities
Manage complex children’s social care cases and provide high-quality statutory social work support.
Undertake assessments, care planning, safeguarding interventions, and reviews for children and families.
Support child protection processes and looked after children cases.
Provide professional guidance and support to less experienced social workers where required.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Prepare reports, assessments, and court documentation to a high professional standard.
Maintain accurate case records in line with legislation, policies, and professional standards.
Contribute to service improvement and best practice development within Children’s Services.
Promote positive outcomes for children, young people, and families through relationship-based practice.
Person Specification
Must-Have Requirements
Approved Social Work qualification.
Current registration with Social Work England.
Extensive post-qualification experience within children’s social care.
Strong knowledge of social care legislation, safeguarding guidance, and related legislation including education and housing.
Demonstrated understanding of current social work practice models and theories.
Experience managing complex and high-risk cases.
Ability to produce high-quality assessments, reports, and care plans.
Strong communication, decision-making, and organisational skills.
Enhanced DBS clearance and Children’s Barred List check eligibility.
Nice-to-Have Requirements
Stage 2 Practice Educator Award or currently working towards it.
Experience mentoring or supporting junior social workers.
Previous experience within a local authority children’s services team.
Experience contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
